Igneous Rock-
Rock that formed from magma or lava.
Extrusive Rock-
Rock that formed from lava that erupted onto the Earth's surface.
Intrusive Rock-
Rock that formed from magma that hardened beneath the Earth's surface.
The 3 ways to classify igneous:
Mineral Composition:
lava- low in silica, usually forms dark colored rocks (For example, basalt)
magma- high in silica, usually forms light colored rocks (For example, granite)
Texture-
Depends on size and shape of mineral crystals.
Volcanic Glass-Igneous rock that cools so quickly that crystals do not form.
Rapidly Cooling- Fine grain with small crystals (For example, Extrusive & Basalt)
Uses of Igneous Rocks:
walls, floors, kitchen counter tops, gravestones, fronts of buildings, pavement, dead skin remover, soap, monuments, sculptures, etc.

- Use origin (where it was found)
